چکیده
Abstract Introduction: Proton beam radiotherapy is an advanced cancer treatment technique, which would reduce the effects of radiation on surrounding healthy cells. The usage radiosensitizers in this technique might further elevate dose towards Material and methods: present study investigated production intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) due to presence individual radiosensitizers, such as bismuth oxide nanoparticles (BiONPs), cisplatin (Cis) or baicalein-rich fraction (BRF) from Oroxylum indicum plant, well their combinations, BiONPs-Cis (BC), BiONPs-BRF (BB), BiONPs-Cis-BRF (BCB), HCT-116 colon cells under proton radiotherapy. Results: It was found that ROS Cis at 3 Gy highest, followed by BC, BiONPs, BB, BRF, BCB treatments. properties a radical scavenger, BRF natural compound, contribute lower induction. BC combination were also time-dependent dose-dependent. Conclusions: As prospective alternatives Cis, BiONPs showed capacities be developed for therapy.

Proton beam irradiation is a form of advanced radiotherapy providing superior distributions of a low LET radiation dose relative to that of photon therapy for the treatment of cancer. Even though this clinical treatment has been developing for several decades, the proton radiobiology critical to the optimization of proton radiotherapy is far from being understood. Proteomic changes were analyze...
متن کاملInvestigation of the dose enhancement effect of spherical bismuth oxide nanoparticles in external beam radiotherapy
Introduction: External radiotherapy is the most common method of radiotherapy which the most important problem associated with is that there is no difference between healthy and tumor tissues in dose absorption. One way to differentiate the dose sensitivity is to use metal-based nanoparticles. Bismuth oxide nanoparticles are good candidates for cancer radiotherapy. In this study, we investigate...

The use of nanoparticles (NPs) has been extended to many fields such as agriculture, food industry, medicine and biotechnological fields. Thereby, human exposure to NPs consequently increases. Therefore, there is a concern about the potential biological effects and toxicity of NPs for humans and the environment. This study aimed to investigate the cytotoxicity effects of magnesium oxide (MgO) a...

Introduction: Radiation therapy (RT) is the gold standard treatment for more than half of known tumors. There is increasing evidence that combining radiation therapy with a radiosensitizer can enhance the efficiency of this treatment modality. A radiosensitizer preferably enhances dose at the site of tumor and increases discrimination between tumor and normal surrounding tissue...
